BB&S Intros Small Pipeline Lights

B

B&S Lighting has introduced, fit-anywhere,
4-inch and 8-inch long Pipes to join their Pipeline
family of 1-foot, 2-foot, 3-foot and 4-foot lengths.
Each is available in 3200°K, 4300°K or 5600°K color
temperatures.
Just 1-inch in diameter, Pipeline's rugged,
cylindrical Pipes emit a high 98 TLCI remote
phosphor LED light, spread over 180 degrees. Among
Pipeline's advantages are low power draw (3W for
the 4-inch Pipe, 7W for the 8-inch), high output
(333 lumens for the 4-inch Pipe, 666 lumens for the
8-inch), and wide light dispersion - all with heatless
and fan-less operation. They are available in 10-20V
to run on batteries or 48V versions that dim all the
way down to zero.
These new, small, cylindrical fixtures can be
mounted virtually anywhere: on the ceiling, on a
C-stand, in a doorway. Any small, hard to light space
is a good candidate for lighting with a 4 or 8-inch
Pipe. They are easily hidden in nooks and crannies
in background pieces, and dialed in to just the right
dimming level.
These new Free Pipes feature dedicated dimmer/
drivers to control the output and feed power. They

are power versatile via 12V automobile battery,
14.4V battery via d-tap, or AC adapter.
BB&S has also displayed new 2-foot, 2-bank
systems, new bags and cases for new kits or
individual custom use, popular Area 48 Soft and

HC9 Mini Fits Smaller Form Cameras

T

he newest addition to the Core SWX Hypercore
line is the HC9 Mini.
The HC9 Mini maintains all the features of the
Hypercore line but was designed with smaller cine
cameras in mind, such as the RED DSMC2 and ARRI
Mini.

"Our users are moving towards more compact
digital stills and motion cameras, so they needed a
power solution that matches that form factor and
allows them to stay mobile," said Jose Flores, Sales
Manager, Core SWX."
Measuring in at only 3.54 x 4.65 x 1.90in (9 x 12m
x 5 cm) and weighing only 1.9lbs. (862gms.),
the HC9 Mini is available in three versions,
including V-mount, RED-specific and a Gold
Mount version that is compatible with Anton/
Bauer chargers.
The HC9 Mini is a 98wh (14.8v) battery with
a 12A load. With the latest in Lithium Ion
technology, the HC9 Mini also comes with an

Leica Cine MacroLux Family Grows by Two

B

uilding on the success of the original Leica
Cine MacroLux +1 diopter, CW Sonderoptic is
introducing two new diopters in the line, a +2 and a
+0.5.
Utilizing the same signature Leica optics and
coatings as the +1, the new Cine MacroLuxes can be
stacked or cut together for consistently beautiful and
creative images.
The +2, +1 and +0.5 optics share the same
mechanical housing, meaning that all three are
compatible with 95mm front diameter prime, zoom
and anamorphic lenses and that all of the diopters
can be stacked and combined for new effects.
The addition of the Leica Cine MacroLux +2 offers
a greater macro effect for table top and close up
work. The much requested +0.5 provides many more
options for use with wide angle lenses.

"Close focus wide angle cinematography is a
very popular trend right now," said Gerhard Baier,
Managing Director of CW Sonderoptic, "and there is
no easier way to bring that look to a large number of
lenses than using the Leica Cine MacroLux +0.5. Plus,
the fall off characteristics give a feeling of increased
aperture to any lens, even very wide focal lengths."
"Adding the Cine MacroLux +2 was a must for completing this set. Even though all of these diopters can
be stacked and combined, our clients doing macro
work needed more flexibility and the +2 gives that to
them because optically speaking, combining two +1's
does not exactly equal +2. It's closer to +1.7."

LED backlit runtime LCD on the front of the battery
pack, that lets users know how much battery time is
left when in use, and also indicates remaining charge
time while connected to a charger. This allows users
to plan their shoots down to the minute.
The RED-specific version can communicate directly
with a RED camera's LCD/VF.
The HC9 Mini's battery cells are incased in an overmolded, rubberized housing, providing additional
protection against accidental impacts that may occur
when operating in rugged conditions.
Like several other Hypercore batteries, the HC9
Mini is safe and legal for air travel.
